FATF

The Financial Action Task Force, the intergovernmental body whose recommendations set the template national anti-money-laundering regimes are built from.

Why it matters

FATF does not make law, but its recommendations become law. The VASP category and the Travel Rule both originate here, which is why comparable rules appear in jurisdictions that never coordinated directly.

What you can check

The recommendations and their interpretive notes are published, as are mutual evaluation reports assessing how far each country has implemented them. Where national rules differ, those documents are the common reference the differences are measured against.

Not advice. Definitions are for understanding, not instruction. Nothing here is financial, legal, tax or security advice.
