The ordered list of words from which a wallet’s private keys are derived. Also called a seed phrase or mnemonic.
Why it matters
The recovery phrase is the account, not a backup of it. Anyone holding the words controls the funds immediately and irreversibly. No legitimate service, support process or tool ever needs it. Conisec will never ask for one.
What you can check
A recovery phrase is the key, in a form a human can copy. Anything that asks for it — a support agent, a browser extension, a “validation” page, a migration tool — is asking for the assets themselves. No legitimate recovery process requires you to type it into software you did not initiate.
Where it showed up
Records in the Incident Tracker that turn on this: Atomic Wallet user fund theft.
