A control that halts or throttles a protocol’s operations when activity crosses a predefined threshold.
Why it matters
Most large losses are extracted in minutes. A cap on outflow per interval, or a pause that a guardian can trigger, converts a total loss into a partial one — at the cost of introducing an address that can stop the system, which is itself a power worth knowing about.
What you can check
If a pause function exists, who may call it and whether that authority is a single key, a multisig or a governance vote are all readable on-chain. Documentation should state what conditions are expected to trigger it, and what unpauses it.
