MOST RECENT CHANGE
The substantive question in France is now the transition of nationally registered PSANs into MiCA authorisation, and the AMF publishes the register of who holds what.

A national regime absorbed into a European one

France was among the first EU member states to build a dedicated regime, registering digital asset service providers with the AMF and setting conduct and AML expectations before any European instrument required it. That national scheme is now the on-ramp to the EU-wide framework rather than a parallel to it.

What to check

The AMF publishes the register, and the useful distinction is between a provider that was nationally registered and one authorised under the European regime — those are different statuses with different scope, and a firm’s marketing will not reliably tell you which it holds. See the European Union entry for the framework itself.
