CASP (Crypto-Asset Service Provider)

The authorisation category under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation for firms providing crypto-asset services.

Why it matters

A CASP authorisation is granted by a national competent authority and passports across the EU. Since the MiCA transitional period ended on 1 July 2026, providing these services in the EU without one is not lawful, and firms that did not obtain authorisation must wind down.
